$162M for improvements at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard needs executive approval, set to be signed soon
Updated: Jun 20, 2019
According to a September 14 Mainebiz article, “Federal legislation that would provide over $162 million for improvements at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery has received U.S. Senate approval and will be considered by President Donald Trump for signing into law, U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, said Thursday in a news release.”
The upgrades will ensure that Portsmouth Naval Shipyard can efficiently dock Los Angeles-class and Virginia-class submarines for maintenance and support. The bill would also provide funding for renovations to an old warehouse facility that helps the shipyard receive and distribute submarine parts, according to the release.
